The MACC Chief is frustrated. I don't blame him as I myself am frustrated.

I am frustrated because the MACC has chosen to be selective.

So what can now MACC do?

Simple. Just do your job according to the law.

So what is the law? And what are the offences?

Simple.

(1) Khir Toyo's mansion that runs to millions
(2) PKFZ that literally ran to billions
(3) Buah Pala's 3.5 Million land deal
(4) and the many many more.

Now compare that to
(1) the late Teoh Beng Hock's death due to the so-called RM2,000 plus for constituency usage
(2) Hannah Yeoh's RM10,000 for constituency use
(3) Ronnie's aide Wong's RM200,000.00 for constituency projects

Now if MACC wishes to be independent, than make sure the first (1) to (4) be thoroughly iinvestigated and charged those idiots that embazzeled rakyat's money. Don't be an idiot MACC. Because the Rakyat is frustrated,

Director: Suspend probes involving politics

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) director of investigations has suggested that all investigations involving politics be suspended temporarily with immediate effect.

In a fit of frustration, Datuk Mohd Shukri Abdull said he felt that certain quarters were out to tarnish MACC’s image by making vicious and unfoun-ded allegations against the commission, especially against his officers.

“The very people who talk about wanting to fight corruption themselves are creating all the problems.

“Their action in barring their employees from assisting us or coming to the MACC office as well as announcing to the world their people are being investigated and highlighting them in the media is hampering our investigations,’’ he said.

Mohd Shukri claimed that whatever the MACC did was not right in the eyes of certain political parties who kept on accusing the MACC of conspiring with the Government or were being biased and selective in their investigation.

The latest trend of bringing in the media was very worrying as it put additional pressure on the witnesses or suspects, he said.

“When we arrest members from the ruling Government, including ministers, MPs, state assemblymen or businessmen, we don’t see them making a scene or creating a ruckus.”

His suggestion for a stop to all investigation on politically-related cases would mean that the probe on the Port Klang Free Zone controversy would be halted, too.

MACC deputy chief commissioner Datuk Abu Kassim Mohamed said he understood Mohd Shukri’s frustration.

He said investigating corruption cases required discreet and in-depth work and most importantly the cooperation of witnesses.

“We want to combat corruption and if law makers themselves start creating a scene and make unfounded allegations against us, including labelling us racists, then how are we to perform effectively?”

“Our job is to curb and combat corruption and we will continue to do so regardless of the allegations hurled against us.

“To me it is part and parcel of our daily job hazard and we will not let such allegations break or dampen our spirit as we have been entrusted to carry out our job professionally,” he added.

An MACC advisory panel member said it was working under intense pressure.

He said the MACC was under-staffed and under-equipped but overloaded with cases.

Utusan error sends Teoh’s best man back to cops

SHAH ALAM, July 25 — A witness in the ongoing investigations into the death of Teoh Beng Hock was recalled by police to have his statement recorded over discrepancies in an Utusan Malaysia news report.

Woo Chuan Sing told the media last Thursday that he last spoke to Teoh on the morning of July 15, when the political secretary asked him over the telephone to be his best man for his wedding.

However a report in Utusan Malaysia quoted Woo as saying that he spoke to Teoh on July 16, the day he was found dead at Plaza Masalam.

Teoh"s body was found on a balcony at the fifth floor of the building at 1.30pm. He was questioned earlier by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) which is based there on the 14th floor.

The MACC maintains Teoh was only a witness who it had finished questioning at 3.45am.

Lawyer Lim Lip Eng, who accompanied Woo to the Shah Alam district police headquarters, told reporters the police could have clarified the point over the phone instead of making his client return.

“Police should have called in the reporter to clarify the issues since it’s the newspaper which misreported the facts,” the Segambut MP said.

According to the investigating officer, the police have completed 90 per cent of investigations into case, he added.

An inquest into Teoh’s death, which has been classified as sudden death, is scheduled to start on Wednesday.

A royal commission of inquiry is also being set up to probe MACC procedures and to determine if Teoh’s human rights were violated.

Nazri IS WRONG

The Malaysian Bar backed by about 13,000 lawyers in West Malaysia supported by their brother lawyers in East Malaysia namely Sarawak Bar Association agrees uneqivocally with the Bar Council to sue the government, inter alia, the Home Affair Minister and at the same time naming the IGP and the OCPD as Defendants for the police high-handed and abusive acts.

Not only that they are to be sued but at the same time society MUST condemned their action and MUST demand the resignations of all involved including the Home Affair Minister.

If what Nazri says that suing the government for the detention of five legal aid lawyers is an attempt to intimidate the enforcement authorities from discharging their duties, then what about lawyers who are actually discharging their constitutional and statutory duties.

Nazri should have known that the lawyers arrested, were called in by their clients to render legal assistance. The lawyers in fact requested to see the form (i.e. the form declaring that they wished not to have legal assistance), that were also denied by the police. What are there to hide? And instead of showing the declaration form, the police under the orders of the OCPD of Brickfields, arrested the five lawyers from the KL Legal Aid centre.

As such the police action is totally uncalled for, arbitary and have no respect for rights of the lawyers in discharging their constitutional and statutory duty.

Nazri: Bar Council’s decision to sue govt an attempt to intimidate

KUALA KANGSAR, May 17 – The decision by the Bar Council to sue the government over the May 7 detention of five legal aid lawyers is an attempt to intimidate the enforcement authorities from discharging their duties, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said today.

He said it also showed that the legal practitioners themselves wanted to undermine the country’s legal system.

“The Bar Council is supposed to be a role model. If police enforce the law and among those caught are their (Bar Council) members, they have to accept it.

“We have the judiciary. Let the court decides whether the five lawyers are guilty or not,” he told reporters after opening a programme for Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) pupils in the Padang Rengas parliamentary constituency at the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Temenggong, Kati here.

He was commenting on a resolution passed by the Bar Council at its extraordinary general meeting on Friday to sue the government and Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan over the detention of the five lawyers during the candlelight vigil for the Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih) activist Wong Chin Huat last week.

On the political crisis in Perak, Mohamed Nazri said, the court was the best avenue to settle the dispute and that there was no need for a fresh state election as the state legislative assembly was still intact.

“There is no hung assembly”, he said, adding that the request to dissolve the state assembly cannot not be made by the minority. – Bernama

New media rules for May 7 Perak assembly

IPOH, May 1 — Only 13 media organisations will be allowed to cover the highly-anticipated proceedings of the Perak State Legislative Assembly when it is held on May 7.

A media notice was sent out by the state Information Department to several media companies yesterday informing them of the tightened security measures.

The notice stated that only 13 media groups in the list would be allowed to cover the entire duration of the assembly from May 7 to 13.

The 13 listed are television stations RTM and BernamaTV, TV3 and newspapers The Star, New Straits Times, Berita Harian, Utusan Malaysia, China Press, Sin Chew Daily, Nanyang Siang Pau, Tamil Namban, Tamil Nesan and national news agency Bernama.

The notice also limited the number of media workers to two people from each organisation: one reporter and the other a photographer.

The only exceptions made were to state-owned television stations RTM, BernamaTV and Umno-linked private station TV3, which are allowed to send in three people each.

Each worker is required to fill up a form together with two passport-sized photographs and send them in directly to the state Information Office here before noon on Monday in order to get the security passes.

All other media not stated in the list would be barred from entering the state assembly hall. They are also barred from hanging out at the hallways outside the hall.

This is not the first time media workers have been required to apply for a security pass in advance. It started during the legislature's first sitting last year under Pakatan Rakyat rule.

But the measures have never been so strict.

Then, media groups were only required to pre-register for security passes with the State Secretariat, which did not set a limit on the number of workers allowed in to cover the assembly.

Several media organisations including The Star and New Straits Times have lodged complaints with Barisan Nasional menteri besar Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir through his press secretary.

However, their gripe is more to do with the fact that the same reporter and photographer will be obliged to cover the assembly throughout the entire sitting without replacements.

No recognition for UM’s MBBS by EU since 1990

KUALA LUMPUR, (March 18, 2009) : The medical degree (MBBS) from Universiti Malaya (UM) has not been recognised by the European Union since its medical student intake of 1990.

Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Idris Haron said that according to the General Medical Council’s stipulation, MBBS programmes outside the EU did not qualify for its recognition.

“This ruling does not only apply to the medical degrees from Malaysia, but also from the universities in Hong Kong, New Zealand, Australia and Singapore which offer the same programme and have produced top medical specialists,” he said in reply to a question from M. Manogaran (DAP-Teluk Intan) in the Dewan Rakyat today.

To a supplementary question from Manogaran on the government’s efforts to regain the recognition, he said it was undertaking student exchange programmes with universities in the United Kingdom.

“For instance, we have such a programme with Queen’s University of Belfast for the purpose of transfer of credit, which can contribute to regaining the recognition.

“The effort has been recognised by a number of universities in the group of universities which cooperate with the GMC in EU and the Malaysian Medical Council.”

He said this would also provide an opportunity for universities in Malaysia which offered medical degree programmes to gain the recognition in future. — BERNAMA/ The Sun

Selangor, Penang Umno defend Youth’s action

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 27 — The Selangor and Penang Umno are backing Umno Youth which has demanded that DAP chairman Karpal Singh apologise, and had caused a commotion in the Parliament compound yesterday.

Selangor Umno Liaison Committee chairman Tan Sri Muhammad Muhd Taib said Umno Youth had the right to protest against Karpal Singh’s action which was seen as offensive to the Malays.

“Karpal did not set a good example with the younger generation by calling the Malay youths ‘celaka’ (damn), although it is known that the word is insulting to the Malays,” said the Umno information chief in a statement today.

Muhammad said Umno Youth’s anger was understandable, following Karpal’s previous statement that the Sultan of Perak could be taken to court for his role in the Perak crisis.

He said for someone who is DAP adviser, Karpal should be more sensitive to the customs and traditions of the multi-racial country.

In Penang, Umno Liaison Committee deputy chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Rashid Abdullah said Karpal should apologise or prove that Umno Youth was responsible for sending two bullets to his house.

He said Karpal’s action could upset public peace and national security for insulting the Malay rulers and the Malays.

“Karpal has crossed the line by using a derogatory term towards Umno Youth, which clearly shows that he is not sane, not clever and does not respect others,” added Abdul Rashid.

In Alor Star, Umno Youth deputy chief Khairy Jamaluddin characterised Karpal Singh as a coward and irresponsible when the DAP leader failed to furnish proof within 24 hours, that the movement was responsible for sending the bullets.

Khairy said this shows that Karpal’s allegations in the Dewan Rakyat was all made up. — Bernama

UMNO Youth - A shame to UMNO

A pen is mightier than the sword - great words.

Unfortunately, UMNO Youth just don't understand those great words. Blinded only by emotions.

Sometimes I wonder why cyberspace brand UMNO Youth as 'Mat Rempit'. Today at 2.45pm, all is clear. Once branded as an echelon of leadership for Malaysia's young but today the very ugly side of UMNO Youth surfaced showing all Malaysians their true colour, gangsterism and mob rule.

So is this the rebranding of UMNO Youth which the Deputy UMNO Youth leader calls for? Shame on UMNO, shame on UMNO Youth. And I sincerely advise UMNO to change or it will be death to the party (Tengku Razaleigh's advise). Maybe we will watch the three by-election in Perak, Kedah and Sarawak.

But what really bother me is security in Parliament. I remembers years back when I was driving my vehicle into parliament house accidently. And damned I realised that I was unable to make a U-turn, and a security officer came to me, stop me and asked me what am I doing here. Now that was when I was at Parliament gate. Now what bother me was, these 20 odd UMNO Youth members could enter without being stopped by security officers

Another stupid thing I saw in Malaysian Insider was when this chap Megat Zulkarnian told reporters, “They must stop insulting the Rulers and the Malays”. Now what is this got to do with Karpal's accusation on UMNO Youth. There is no insult on the Rulers or even the Malays. Why don't Megat read history back in 1993 when UMNO themselves challenge the rights of the Malay Rulers. SO who is insulting who NOW.

For me Megat is just another henchman of UMNO Youth.

By the way UMNO Youth, this is not my way in settling issues.....

MACC versus UMNO

Like my Malay friends will say "Apa benda ni?".

It was reported in Bernama that 30 members of the Youth and Putera wings of UMNO handed a memorandum of protest to the party leadership on the intervention by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

I don't understand what these idiots are harping about. Maybe corruption and money politics are rooted so much and deep into their system that they don't wish for a cleaning-up in UMNO. They should in fact welcome the investigation and intervention of the MACC and start cleaning the dirt in UMNO.

Though there may be report of MACC brutality made against an UMNO member, let the investigation take place and if found to be true, that officer must be charged in court and trialed. However if the report turn out to be false, then that UMNO member must be charged for lodging a false report. Period.

MACC investigation cannot stop it has to go on.

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 29 — About 30 members of the Youth and Putera wings of Umno tonight handed a memorandum of protest to the party leadership on the intervention by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in party matters.

In the memorandum, the members also protested against the proposal by the chairman of the Umno Diciplinary Board, Tan Sri Tengku Ahmad Rithauddeen Tengku Ismail that the party’s wings be dissolved to curb money politics.

The memorandum was handed to Umno president Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Razak and members of the Supreme Council (MT) before they began their their MT meeting at the Umno headquarters.

A spokesman for the group, Zuraidi Abdul Rahim said the establishment of the MACC had resulted in more party members being detained on corruption charges and members of the commission frequently adopted harsh tactics when questioning suspects.

“The formation of the MACC is not to beat suspects when questioning them. Thirty-nine people have been called up for questioning, the number of those remanded is uncertain but two or three people have lodged police reports. We have proof of the incidents through a copy of the police report lodged by a party member which is attached to the memorandum,” he told reporters at the Menara Tun Hussein Onn lobby here.

The police report dated Jan 28, lodged at the Damansara Police Station by an Umno member from Pahang, claimed that he was beaten on the head, kicked on the ribs by an officer, and was forced to strip and roll over on the floor. Zuraidi said he represented about 2,500 party members throughout the country who hoped there would be no intervention by outsiders especially from the MACC on party matters so that the freedom of expression by party members could be revived. Earlier, they had gathered at the lobby to express their protest against the suggestion by Tengku Ahmad Rithauddeen and the establishment of the MACC. — Bernama

You are wrong Datuk Seri Syed Hamid

Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar's statement below is unwarranted and a shallow. As a former lawyer he should very well know that all suspects are innocent until proven guilty. The burden of proof is not on them. More so if the prosecution alleged that a criminal situation had taken place, proved it. He who alleged MUST prove that is the basis of our criminal justice system.

As such Kugan's death or any other person detained and died during detention is nothing short but criminal wrong committed by the police. So should the police be seen as a hero in allowing brutality in their own back yard? I don't think so.

The public such as I includeed, am not happy with the attitude and the conduct of some police officers in taking the law into their own hand. Why can't they just follow procedures as laid down under the law.

I am reminded the cases in UK such as Birmingham Six or Maguire Seven or Guilford Four where the it caused the Home Secretary to set up a Royal Commission on Criminal Justice in 1991 which led to the Criminal Appeal Act of 1995 and the establishment of the Criminal Cases Review Commission in 1997.

So like our country, there is a need to form such commission to correct and strengthen the reputation of the police force. Those who are involved in the beating of detainees (or any wrong doing) should be terminated and charged by the court of law. There should not be any cover ups and due compensation should be given to the family of the loss.

I am sure Kugan and the others that have died prematurely including their family are not seeking for glory or being called a HERO but merely seeking that JUSTICE prevailed.

PUTRAJAYA, Jan 28 — The people should not regard criminals as heroes and the police who enforce the law as demons, Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar said today.

Speaking in general terms, he said no one was above the law and added that action would be taken against those who broke the law, even if it was the police.

“We will not conceal the facts,” he told reporters at his office here.

Syed Hamid said he was not linking his statement, made in general terms, with the death of car theft suspect A. Kugan who had died while in police custody at the Taipan police station in Subang Jaya on Jan 20.

“I am not pinpointing anybody,” the minister stressed.

He explained that police had detained three suspects including Kugan following investigations into 19 cases of vehicle theft and armed robbery.

The minister also asked the people not to politicise the investigation into Kugan’s death, saying it would make the police task more difficult.

“They must talk of the case based on facts and not assumptions,” he said.

Kugan, 22, who was detained on Jan 15 at the Taipan police station on suspicion of being involved in the theft of luxury cars in Sungai Chua, Kajang, had died while being questioned.

Selangor police chief Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar had said a post-mortem found that Kugan had died due to fluid in his lungs but Kugan’s family sought a second post mortem, insisting that Kugan had died of injuries.

Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail said later that Kugan’s death had been classified as murder. A second post-mortem on Kugan has been done since.

The police are investigating Kugan’s death and the results are expected to be known soon.

Kugan's death - Pewaris and Selangor CPO - Just shut up and repent

I agree with the views by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that Kugan's death is NOT A RACIAL issue but a Malaysian issue. Kugan is innocent until proven otherwise and this insane act of police brutality should not had happen in the first place.

I believe Malaysian of all walks condemned this insane act as well as the flip flop statements by the Chief Police Officer (Selangor) Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar in covering up police brutality in the force. Now with the second autopsy report confirming external injuries caused by blunt force trauma, the police force and the Malaysian government owed not only the family of the late Kugan but all Malaysian an unconditional apology and a right to demonstrate against the coward act of the police.

Though I welcomed the Attorney General classification the case as murder and that the 11 policemen from the Subang USJ Taipan police station have been reassigned to desk duty pending investigations, the Malaysian government should convene and Independent Commission to investigate not only this case but the many others related cases involving police brutality and death in police detention and those that caused the wrong should not onlly be suspended but be charged and trialed under our legal system.

Enough said.

And as for Pewaris that this procession was inadvisable as it might offend the sensitivities of others, maybe I should asked Pewaris, on whose sensativities? Police? And also the coward statement of Selangor CPO issuing a warning. How can the people accept police brutality and death in police lock-up. Such unlawful act is so wrong going against all laws of this land. Pewaris should know that this act of questionable conduct of the police is unbecoming of the police force and making it a mockery of the legal and enforcement system which is violation of basic human right and the police lock up rules. In fact Pewaris should denounce such despicable act AND the Selangor CPO should apologised to all.

Muslim NGO echoes police warning for Kugan’s funeral

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 27 — Pewaris, a non-governmental Muslim advocacy group, today appealed to MIC president Datuk Seri Samy Vellu to urge the Indian community not to get involved in any protest demonstrations during tomorrow's funeral procession for A Kugan, a suspect in a car theft case who died while in police custody.

Yesterday, Selangor police chief Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar issued a warning that police would take stern action if the procession was used to stage illegal protest demonstrations.

Kugan's remains will be brought from the University Malaya Medical Centre near here to the Batu 14 Puchong crematorium for final rites before being cremated.

Kugan, 22, was arrested on Jan 15 on suspicion of being involved in the theft of luxury cars.

He died on Jan 20 while detained at the Taipan police station in Subang Jaya. The case has been classified as murder. — Bernama

I beg to differ Mr. Education Minister

I find this piece in The Malaysian Insider under the titled "Security tightened around US firms as Gaza war worsens" disturbing. Disturbed not because of Malaysian going on a rampage and demonstrate or boycott American products of firms but for the Education Minister to mobilise 5 million school children and 360,000 teachers to protest against the Gaza offensive.

We can boycott and demonstrate all we want but please Mr. Eduction Minister, leave out our children. Leave out the 5 million or so school children. Nothing short of exploitation of school children.

It is unbecoming and unministerial for the Minister to encourage school children to protest. Maybe they should just do composition or 'karangan' about the bad and ugly about war and oppression instead of protesting in the open.

There are many reasons in differing the views of the Education Minister namely, school children are to be taught positive upbringing like making peace and not war. Secondly, would they able to understand or comprehend the purpose of demonstrating and protesting, remember these are young minds. Thirdly, there are better ways to educate school children by the Ministry.

In fact the Ministry should safeguard the school children's interest rather than to politicise this. I think we cannot use children for the benefit of our own agenda. Personally I am against the used of children in such manner be it a political rally or any form of demonstration. Young minds should be left out in the wars by the adult.

Please, let them concentrate on school and school alone.

Residents complaining to Reporters

The below is a Memorandum by the residents in Pangsapuri Tun Sri Lanang (DUN Kota Laksamana) against the compulsory acquition by MBMB. This unfair acquisition of part of the land in the Pangsapuri is for the purpose of building a monorail train track that will run only 15km/per hour. Meaning it is for recreational under the so-called tourism feel good factor. The monorail train track will start from Pangkalan Rama right to the former Cathay.

The compulsory acquisition is effected by a Malacca State Gazette Notification No. 428 dated 3rd June 2008 stated as "Untuk Projek Laluan Monorail" wherein 668 square metres of land will be acquired.

The acquired propert will be severely affected whereby it deprived the river frontage of the pangsapuri. On top of that privacy and greenery will also be tremendously affected as fully matured trees presently on site as well as those lining the river. This will be cut down to make way for the monorail. As a result of that, the market value will never appreciate.

There are also other issues that can happen long term i.e. sound and noice pollution, vibrations, operational safety requirements and other potential accident hazards during or even after the construction of the monorail. Worst still when the construction of the monorail is close to the apartment unit and in the event it is completed, the motorail will be even closer to the unit on the third floors which I believe as close as 15 to 20 feet touching the wall of the apartment.

Though I am in agreement with the developments of the state authority, building and constructing unnecessary projects at the expense of lives of people and public funds, this I must OBJECT. Such projects are simply unnecessary and waste of public funds which should be channel to the use of society in a more diligent way.

MEMORANDUM KEPADA MAJILS BANDARAYA MELAKA BANDARAYA BERSEJARAH

Merujuk kepada Warta Kerajaan Negeri Melaka No. 428 bertarikh 3.6.2008, No. Kontrak MBMB/PK/K/2008/04/10 dan juga kepada laporan tanah oleh Tetuan C H Williams Talhar & Wong bertarikh 8hb September 2008.

Kami selaku penduduk Pangsapuri Tun Sri Lanang membantah keras terhadap pengambilan secara paksa (compulsory acquisition) tanah pangsapuri kami yang telah dipersetujui secara peribadi di antara pihak Perbadanan Persatuan Penduduk Pangsapuri Tun Sri Lanang (sekarang dikenali sebagai Perbadanan tersebut) dengan Majilis Melaka Bandaraya Bersejarah (sekarang di kenali sebagai Majilis tersebut).

Pengambilan tanah secara paksa tersebut adalah tujuan untuk satu projek yang tidak mempunyai kesan positif kepada orang awam iaitu cadangan Membentuk, Membina dan Menyiapkan serta Menguji dan Mentauliahguna ‘Monorail Train’, ‘Roller Coaster Cyclone’ dan ‘Glider’ di persisiran Sungai Melaka Secara Design and Build.

Kami selaku Penduduk berkeras membantah kehadiran pihak Majilis, agen atau pekerja Majilis untuk memasukki kawasan Pangsapuri Tun Sri Lanang atas alasan bahawa
Alasan-alasan kami membantah adalah:-

(a) Kami tidak diberitahu tentang pengambilan tanah pangsapuri oleh pihak Perbadanan ataupun dari pihak Majilis

(b) Tidak ada apa-apa perjumpaan di antara kami sebagai penduduk dengan pihak Majilis

(c) Terdapat kesan mudarat (injurious effect) yang bakal akan berlaku sekiranya pengambilan secara paksa dilakukan

(d) Kesan mudarat yang dinyatakan adalah seperti berikut:-

(i) Pembinaan monorail adalah terlalu dekat dengan pangsapuri penduduk-penduduk
(ii) Pembinaan tersebut akan berlakunya retakkan pada blok-blok pangsapuri tersebut
(iii) Pembinaan tersebut akan menjejaskan persekeliling kawasan pangsapuri tersebut seperti ancaman pencemaran bunyi, pencemaran asap, ‘vibration’ dan kemungkinan akan berlaku kejadian yang tidak diingini
(iv) Pembinaan juga akan menjejas kehijauan (greenery) pangsapuri tersebut kerana pokok-pokok kawasan pangsapuri akan ditebang untuk laluan monorail tersebut.
(v) Pembinaan tersebut akan mempunyai juga kesan masa panjang kerana pimbinaan monorail tersebut adalah terlalu dekat dengan unit-unit pangsapuri-pangsapuri tersebut di mana ancaman privasi dan kehijauan kawasan tersebut
(vi) Pembinaan tersebut juga akan menjejaskan nilai pasaran pada unit-unit pangsapuri-pangsapuri tersebut

(e) Kawasan pangsapuri kami bukan satu ‘theme park’ maka ianya tidak sesuai dengan cadangan pihak Majilis mahupun kerajaan Negeri.

Walaupun terdapat akujanji-akujanji oleh pihak Majilis, ianya tidak memberi satu alasan yang munasabah untuk membina monorail pelancongan di kawasan penduduk.

Selain daripada Memorandum ini diserahkan kepada pihak Majilis, ianya akan ditujukan kepada kerajaan Negeri, Kementerian Alam Sekitar dan juga kepada Pejabat Perdana Menteri.

Oleh yang demikian, kami, di mana semua yang menandatangani Memorandum ini, MEMBANTAH KERAS TINDAKAN PIHAK MAJILIS ATAU AGEN ATAU PEKERJA MAJILIS atas alasan-alasan yang dikemukan di atas.

Making the Police STUPID

I read the Star this evening and found this latest entry on JERIT handling a memo to Senator T. Murugiah, the Minister in the PM's department and was amused with the logic given by the police during their cycling campaign. I must salute JERIT for their determination though 111 arrest, sexual harassment, police harassment, got their bicycle torched and flamed, persistently abused by pro establishments (u know what I mean, especially members of U Must Not Object members) and the many other old fashioned mathod of intimidation.

But nevertheless, I think I must applaud the Senator for receiving the memorandum and at the same time....

I feel 'bangga' that there are rakyat Malaysia who would just went all out not fearing intimidation of wanting to see CHANGE. Change to among other things discriminating policies and laws, requesting for the minimum wages acts, stop the privatisation of public facilities, control the prices of goods and restore local government elections. These are all warranted request that are good for the country and her people. So why not? deliberate it in Parliament and let our law makers debate it and fight it out.

But what is more embarassing, is our men in blue and the pro establishments chaps. Yes, included the police. Why the harassment? Why the insult and the abuse? Why the use of arbitrary force? Why the threat? It shows the acts and conducts of the police are inter alia:-

i) shallow and unintelligent. In short STUPID
ii) a poo poo undemocratic organisation
iii) insult to Malaysia and her people
iv) discriminating, what about the Rempits??
v) very unnecessary and uncalled for
vi) a waste of public funds
vii) abusive and ruckus
viii) questionable
and many more.....

Like Kit says, "“commended” the police for highlighting the campaign -- without the alleged police harrassment, the event would not have received so much attention locally and internationally"

Was it PEACEFUL? OR PEWARIS gave their piece

It was reported below in the Star that it was a peaceful gathering. I doubt that is so. Seeing a lady ran for her life and the kicking of her car in one of the news media would certainly show a 'piece' rather peace.

Anyway was wondering whether the gathering is an illegal gathering without a police permit. If it so I was also wondering will there be any arrest is made.

KUALA LUMPUR: Representatives from an umbrella body of Malay and Muslim non-governmental organisations lodged five police reports yesterday over several issues which they claimed would endanger Muslim and Malay unity.

The group dubbed as Pewaris or Heritage Associations, Malay Cultural Organisations and Related Bodies Cooperation Network urged the Government to act against groups which sought to abolish the Internal Security Act (ISA).

It also asked for action against the Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf), Gerakan Wanita chief Datuk Tan Lian Hoe for her recent remarks on Malays and the criticism by the Sisters in Islam on the National Fatwa Council’s decision on pengkid or tomboys.

Pewaris spokesman Datuk Dr Maamor Osman told reporters that the group of 30 NGOs would form a coalition called Majlis Permuafakatan Ummah to counter criticism against the Malays and Islam.

Later, about 500 of the coalition’s members held a peaceful gathering outside their meeting place at Wisma Sejarah at Jalan Tun Razak before going to the Jalan Tun Razak police station to lodge the reports.

Suddenly, the Government berjiwa Rakyat

Suddenly the government became thoughtful of the Rakyat.
Suddenly the government is listening to the plights of the Rakyat.
Suddenly the Rakyat became a concern of the government.
And what do the Government say.....berjiwa rakyat.

After kena left right and center then only the government put on hold the RM1.7 billion purchase of the Cougar EC 725 helicopters. Only when the Opposition, NGO and the public voice their concern, only then the government reacted.

And there they go again to say "Kerajaan Barisan Nasional berjiwa rakyat". What can I say, "berjiwa rakyat" my foot.

According to source in wikipedia, the EC 725 was developed to meet a French Air Force requirement for a specialist helicopter for Combat Search & Rescue. It was never tested during real combat or battle except for minor operation by the French Air Force such as to evacuate people from Lebanon during Operation Baliste in 2006 and the war in Afghanistant to support the coalition force. Well that is the only battle operation stated and Malaysia literally intended to buy not three or four but 12 units of untested battlefield helicopters.

Maybe I may want to ask the government whatever for? Oh yes maybe for peacekeeping under the UN banner. Whatever it is RM1.7 billion is not in our league and means. That money can be used for many many things for the Rakyat. In fact the government should not even consider it at the first place. Not even 2011.

Yes and I am not joking. It is for real. Saw in the Star online written by the Star Malacca Chief, Martin Carvalho (below), as the Ali Rustam explaining himself why a Datukship should be given. And give he did.

I bet you, Shahrukh Khan may have forgotten Malacca though he film it once in 2007. Maybe I should also suggest and recommend to the Chief Minister to give a Datukship to Sir Sean Connery (so it will be Datuk Sir Sean) and Miss Catherine Zeta Jones as well as they too promote Malacca River (hehe) and guess what the river is now becoming the 'Venice of the Esat.'

Oh yes I have forgotten, yeras and years ago, Davide Copperfield came too. Maybe we can suggest a datukship as well. So for everty celebrity coming to Malacca, a datukship is recommended. Again a joke.

So what have 'Datuk' Shahrukh Khan did for Malacca? Now Ali says that as a result of his filming, many people visited Malacca. Not that is a careless statement. One cannot take that movie shot alone as a barometer for the purposes of foreign tourist coming to Malacca. I think that statement lack genuinety and cross referencing.

The scantity of Datukship in Malacca especially is now question with such conduct by the Malacca CM who is eyeing for a seat in the Deputy President of UMNO. I cannot see how, this candidate's judgment in policy making for Malaysia.

Chief Minister explains Shah Rukh Khan's Datukship

MALACCA: The Malacca Governor’s 70th birthday title award ceremony here was abuzz with excitement with many expecting to see popular Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan receive his Datukship on Saturday.

However, the international star and heartthrob was not to be seen at the Dewan Seri Hall in Ayer Keroh. Efforts are still being made to get him to come to Malaysia to collect his award.

The Datukship award has been questioned by various parties, including politicians and diehard fans.

Some say the actor did not deserve the award as “he hardly knows where Malacca is” while others say he “promoted Malacca in his songs and movies.”

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said the decision to confer the title on the actor was based on a suggestion by former Finance Minister Tun Daim Zainuddin to Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob recently as a means to further promote Malacca owing to the fact that the actor had shot a movie scene here several years ago.

He said the movie One 2 ka 4 was shot at the A Famosa Resort in Alor Gajah in 2001.

“This resulted in many people visiting Malacca since then. The award is given in recognition of this,” he said after the awards presentation ceremony on Saturday.

Mohd Ali said awarding international artistes was also a good way to promote the state and country as a location for movies.

“Phuket Island is famous as an international tourist destination because of a James Bond movie,” he said, adding that Shah Rukh Khan’s movies have penetrated the European, US and Middle Eastern markets.

He said Daim is making arrangements to bring the actor here to receive the award in a special ceremony.

Where is our Malaysian University?

Below is the latest Times Higher Education-QS World University Rankings top 200 published today in The Times of London and guess what, Malaysia universities are not even listed. What an embarrassment. What happen to our USM, the so called Apex University formerly ranked 111st in year 2005. What about University Malaya, who were at 89th place in 2004 and then 169th in 2005 and 192nd in 2006...

In other countries every university will strive for excellence but not for Malaysian Universities. We never believe in the Times Higher Education survey.

This is what I call the denial syndrome of Malaysia Boleh...

Mat Taib going for No. 2

And I thought he 'tak boleh cakap' English. Probably like all of us, loves Manglish more. But then again for a public political position like the Deputy President of UMNO, I believe a much higher stardard requires to be DP material. That person should not only understand Malay politics, but economy, domestic issues, race relation, defence, health care, sound foreign affair policy, environment, and the likes of other host of issues. Not any Ali, Ah Beng and Anniapan can be in that position. So as to Mat Taib, I don't see him capable of holding such position. Affront to common sense...

Same goes with the great Malacca Chief Minister, I still demand to know what happen to the RM1.10 billion debt small Malacca owe the Federal Government.

Of course people reading this may say don't masuk campur UMNO politics, but plesae bear in mind that that position will automatically by tradition assume the position of the Deputy Prime Minister. And should anything happen to the Prime Minister, that man/woman will assume that position of Prime Minister of Malaysia.

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno information chief Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib has announced he will contest the party No. 2 post.

He said this Thursday, a day after Prime Minister and Umno president Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi announced he would not be contesting in the March party elections.

Abdullah, who is also Barisan chairman, said he “hoped” to hand over the premiership to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak after the Umno elections in March.

The others vying for the deputy post are Pulai MP Datuk Nur Jazlan Tan Sri Mohamad, vice-president Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam and supreme council member Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
