Bar Council on Security Threats

Press Statement from Dato' Ambiga Sreenevasan, Chairman Bar Council and President of the Malaysian Bar which regards to the recent statement by the IGP Tan Sri Musa Hassan on the deployment of the armed forces to maintain order.

Ambiga SreenevasanThe Bar Council shares the concerns expressed by civil society and SUHAKAM in relation to the Inspector-General of Police’s reported suggestion that the authorities may resort to deploying armed forces to maintain public order, particularly in relation to assemblies.

The Bar Council notes that there has never been any necessity to take such measures in the past. On two recent occasions, in fact, assemblies were conducted peaceably and without incident.

Resort to the use of armed forces to control such assemblies is unwarranted and heavy-handed, and we call for this move to be abandoned. The threat of such deployment is intimidating to members of the public who have shown the desired maturity and responsibility in the conduct of such assemblies.

The public had in fact understood that this Government was moving towards loosening the grip on assemblies. The threat of the use of the army is wholly inconsistent with this and any process of democratisation that we are aiming for. Recent events in the course of the week have also created much disquiet. We call on the Prime Minister to address this disquiet.

We need to know that we live in a Malaysia that upholds fundamental freedoms and respects the Rule of Law. We need to know that our enforcement agencies are there to protect the public and not to instill fear in them, and that their officers will have the courage to carry out their duties without fear or favour. We need to know that all the organs in the administration of justice are functioning fully and flawlessly.

We need to know that the freedoms that we believe existed do not become a fiction.

Another Racist UMNO

Just when Perak state assemblywoman's issue is over another idiot hurling racist remarks in the Dewan Rakyat. Guess what? From a member of parliament from the same party as the state assemblywoman. What else....UMNO.

Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rahman©The Sun(Used by permission)

KUALA LUMPUR (July 3, 2008) : Three groups have condemned Pasir Salak MP Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rahman for labelling non-Malays in the country as immigrants in his debate in the Dewan Rakyat on the 9th Malaysia Plan mid-term review on Tuesday.

MCA Youth secretary-general Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong said today the party’s legal bureau is studying the matter and will write to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak as the Chief Whip, recommending that action be taken against Tajuddin.

"His statement contained racist elements. It had more or less hurt the feelings of the Chinese community and other non-Malays.

"Our legal bureau will look into this for the sake of preserving the solidarity within BN.

"We are all Malaysian citizens and must observe national unity. This does not have any good and could also be damaging and provoke reaction," he told a press conference at the Parliament lobby.

The press conference was also attended by representatives from Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Youth and the Federation of Malaysian Clans and Guilds Youths Association which protested Tajuddin's comments.

Wee said if no action is taken against Tajuddin, they plan to lodge a police report.

Security Threat?

The below article would mean that our country is under security threat. That is how I perceived this news report. So my question, IS OUR COUNTRY IS UNDER A SECURITY THREAT until the army has to be called in?

Army to help maintain order if need arises

KUALA LUMPUR: The armed forces will be called in to assist police in maintaining public order if the security situation of the country warrants it, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan.

“However, this will only be done after consultation with the Home Affairs and Defence Ministers,” he told reporters after witnessing the launch of the inaugural six-day joint police-armed forces exercise at the Royal Malaysian Police Senior Officers College in Cheras Wednesday.

Musa said it was the responsibility of both the police and armed forces to ensure that peace and security prevailed in the country at all times.

He said one of the reasons why the police and armed forces held the joint exercise was to ensure they were prepared for the situation, following recent challenges faced by law enforcement agencies here.

“The exercise is also to enhance the cooperation between the police and the army, besides helping improve coordination, logistics and communication between the two forces,” he added.

Army chief Jen Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Zainal said the exercise would be held in two phases to better enhance implementation during a national security-threatening scenario.

“The first phase will involve discussions and, when the time is right, proceed to deployment,” he said, adding that the idea was first mooted about two years ago.

Musa, when asked about the police report made by PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim against him and Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail, refused to comment and said that it was under investigation.

Sodomy the 'In Thing" or words to that nature....

First you have this :

"A police report has been lodged against PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim for allegedly sodomosing one of his aides - the second time that such an accusation had been made in over 10 years.

The report was lodged by the 23-year-old victim at the Jalan Travers police station at 6pm.

KL police chief DCP Muhammad Sabtu Osman has confirmed that the report had been made.

It is learnt that Anwar met with a number of party leaders at an emergency meeting late tonight.

At 11.15pm, PKR sent out an SMS message stating that the police had detained Anwar’s special aide Saiful Bahari this afternoon and forced him to lodge a police report about being sodomised by his boss.

It added that the police are expected to arrest Anwar soon."

Then you have this :
And now this :

KUALA TERENGGANU: Two police lance corporals have lodged reports alleging that their chief, an OCPD of a rural district in Terengganu, attempted to sodomise them, on two separate occasions.

In the first report made on Thursday, the 22-year-old cop claimed that he was sleeping at the OCPD’s house in mid-May when someone grabbed him from the back.

In his report, the cop alleged that the OCPD embraced and kissed him at about 3am.

The lance corporal also alleged that the senior officer dragged his boxer shorts down and attempted to sodomise him.

The subordinate claimed that he fled and hid in one of the rooms before deciding to lodge the police report.

The second report against the OCPD was made at 5.15pm on the same day by another 21-year-old cop who claimed that his chief had ordered him to accompany the OCPD to a bedroom on the second floor of a rest house here, early in March.

The policeman claimed the OCPD also tried to molest and sodomise him.

Both the reports were lodged at the Kelantan police headquarters in Kota Baru.

Senior police officials confirmed that the reports were lodged, adding that the two lance corporals had been transferred out of the district to facilitate investigations.

Sodomy Again?

The 10 years cycle and it happened to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. A police report was lodge by an aide of DSAI. The below is reported by Malaysiakini.

"A police report has been lodged against PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim for allegedly sodomosing one of his aides - the second time that such an accusation had been made in over 10 years.

The report was lodged by the 23-year-old victim at the Jalan Travers police station at 6pm.

It added that the police are expected to arrest Anwar soon."

Below is the press statement by DSAI stating that the report lodged was a complete fabrication which I now reproduced here.

June 29, 2008, SHAH ALAM, MALAYSIA

The police report lodged against me earlier today is a complete fabrication. I believe we are witnessing a repeat of the methods used against me in 1998 when false allegations were made under duress. This is clearly a desperate attempt by the Barisan Nasional regime to arrest the movement of the Malaysian people towards freedom, democracy and justice.

The report has been organized by interested parties to attack me in retaliation for evidence I have recently obtained implicating IGP Musa Hassan and the AG Gani Patail in misconduct including fabrication of evidence in the cases launched against me in 1998-1999. This vile attack will not prevent me from releasing this dossier to the public.

I urge the Malaysian people to stand against the repressive forces that will be unleashed by the government in the coming days and weeks. We expect the media, the judiciary and the police force to all come under the direct and unchecked control of the executive.

My fellow Malaysians - we took a bold step forward on March 8th towards a new dawn for freedom and justice for all of our citizens. This people’s movement for change must go on with all of our strength and conviction.

This Is So Racist...

I read the below excerpts from the Star with very mixed negative feelings. Reading it make me feel sad, angry and completely sick with the racist UMNO. And worst still when it comes from a state assemblywoman from racist UMNO. This is what she says...

"One by Hamidah Osman (BN-Sungai Rapat) particularly earned the wrath of the Pakatan Rakyat assemblymen when she asked whether Sivakumar “agreed to disagree” with the well-known fable of whether a snake or a man from a certain racial community should be killed first.

Nga Kor Ming (DAP-Pantai Remis) and other Pakatan assemblymen demanded Hamidah retract her words but she maintained she was merely asking if Sivakumar “agreed to disagree” with it.

Sivakumar let her off with a warning and told her not to bring up anything sensitive."

Now a state assemblyman, is elected in that seat by everyone and that includes those not from her race. I think she has to apologise to all Malaysians for her very stupid remark or so called question. The words that was uttered by her is nothing more than disparaging remarks aimed at a particular race.

What an IDIOT.
